Liam Payne addresses drug video: "We all do stupid things at this age"

Liam Payne has chosen to comment on video footage that leaked earlier this week which showed two of his band mates allegedly smoking a joint.

The video obtained by the Daily Mail appears to show Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson smoking marijuana whilst the band were in Peru.

Whilst Zayn and Louis thanked fans for their support at a UK concert earlier this week, Liam is the only member of the band to have directly addressed the video.

Payne wrote on Twitter: “I love my boys and maybe things have gone a little sideways I apologise for that. We are only in our 20's we all do stupid things at this age.”

He went on: “We all have a lot of growing up to do in an extreme circumstance I'm not making excuse but it's fact we are gunna [sic] fall short somewhere.

“Hopefully we stand the test of time an [sic] get it right in the end I don't take this for granted and im [sic] extremely grateful to be here doing this.”

Liam concluded: “Thank you to everyone who has stuck with us through this just know that we love you guys for it and it means the world.”

A representative for One Direction has stated that “the matter is now in the hands of our lawyers.”
