Chris Colfer on Twitter hack: 'It's upsetting that I might be known as that kid from ‘Glee’ who got hacked'

Last week, 'Glee' star Chris Colfer had a shock when someone hacked into his official Twitter account and posted a message that read, "Due to personal issues, I have been let go from the cast of GLEE. Explanations will come shortly."

The tweet was quickly confirmed as unofficial and a spokesperson for the actor, singer, and writer has since revealed that he will not be leaving the popular TV dramaWhen asked by MTV News if he has a message for the hacker, Colfer joked: "I couldn’t say that out loud. I couldn’t say that unless there was a bleep.”

The multi-talented star went onto add that it's disheartening to think that something as silly as being hacked has the potential to be the main thing people know him for and he would hate to now be referred to as "that kid from ‘Glee’ who got hacked".

"It really upset me just because I — probably more so than it should have — because I try to stay out of headlines as much as possible, unless I’m promoting a project that I’ve worked really hard on, so the fact that something like that is probably what I’ll be known for the most, that kid from ‘Glee’ who got hacked. You know, that’s really upsetting. It’s upsetting when you’re forced into headlines like that. You know, you have nothing to do with it.”

When asked if he has any idea who might be behind the hack, Colfer added: "A million jokes have been made about, ‘Oh we had passwords that were our pet’s names,’ which is we do not have passwords that are pet’s names. I think it was definitely like a, someone did it with a motive, someone with software went in and hacked into our stuff.”
