Charli XCX reveals why she named her album 'Sucker'

Singer-songwriter Charli XCX is gearing up to release her highly anticipated debut album 'Sucker', which is due to be unveiled on October 21, and has opened up about her title choice.

During an interview with On Air With Ryan Seacrest, the rising star explained that her album's name was a funny way to poke fun at the state of the music industry at the moment:

"The record is kind of punk-inspired, so the name has to do with that. And partially, I think a comment on the music industry as a whole and how the whole place is basically like a circus.”

Earlier this summer, the beauty confessed that she's done with writing hit singles for other artists at the moment and feels ready for her own time in the spotlight: "I can write a f**king hit song. And I'm going to write some for me now. I feel like as an artist I've done so many collaborations now that I think I just want to take this record for myself."

Charli XCX, meanwhile, has joined Katy Perry's European leg of her Prismatic tour and will kick off her supporting stint in February 2015. Perry tweeted about the exciting news to her followers: "EUROPE! @charli_xcx is going to get prismatic with us next February & March! Excited to welcome her to #ThePrismaticWorldTour!"
