Hall and Oates have launched legal action against a cereal maker over their Haulin' Oats product.

The musical duo claim the Early Bird Foods & Co granola is infringing upon their trademark.

Their lawyers said the business is attempting to "trade off of the fame and notoriety associated with the artist's and plaintiff's well-known marks".

Legal notes says that numerous parties have tried to "to make a connection between the artists' names and oats-related products" over the years.

The case has been filed at the Brooklyn federal court.

Hall and Oates meanwhile released their first album 'Whole Oats' in 1972.
