'The Voice UK' winner Stevie McCrorie lands midweek No.1 single

Stevie McCrorie, who was recently crowned the winner of the latest season of 'The Voice' in the UK, has shot straight in at No.1 today on the midweek chart update.

He will donate proceeds of the chart-topping track, entitled 'Lost Stars', to the BBC’s Performing Arts Fund and if his sales momentum continues the track will be the highest charting single from a winner of 'The Voice' in history. The song is also currently ahead of its nearest competitor, which is 'Jealous' by Nick Jonas (No.2), by 4,000 combined chart sales.

The success of McCrorie’s release has also boosted the original version of the song, which was recorded by Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine for the 2014 movie 'Begin Again', into the Top 100 as it has re-entered at No.64 today.

Elsewhere on the UK Top 40, Jess Glynne's 'Hold My Hand' has slipped two places to No.3, Meghan Trainor's 'Dear Future Husband' made an appearance at No.38, and James Bay's 'Hold Back The River' is at No.4. The final positions will be confirmed on Sunday, April 12.
