Ed Sheeran, P!nk and Pharrell to play Progress on Race in America gig

Ed Sheeran and P!nk are among the stars due to perform at a special race issues concert next month.

The acts will play at Shining a Light: A Concert for Progress on Race in America in Los Angeles on November 18.

The duo are joined on the bill by a host of names including Sia, Pharrell Williams, John Legend, Bruce Springsteen, Sting and Jamie Foxx.

Also on the line-up are Zac Brown Band, Eric Church, Miguel, Pink, Sia, Rhiannon Giddens, Tori Kelly, and Jill Scott.

After the concert is broadcast on November 20, a programme called Shining a Light: Conversations on Race in America will air.

It will see artists go into communities that have witnessed violence, such as Charleston and Baltimore, and discuss issues with different members of society.

Executive producer Ken Ehrlich said: "The current racial situation in America is at a critical point.

"Today’s musical artists, much like those of the civil rights movement’s history, have strong feelings about what’s going on today, and we’re hopeful that Shining a Light does, in fact, give a voice to their concerns, their hopes, and their thinking about solutions to the alarming events that we see around us every day.”

Money from the gig will go to Fund for Progress on Race in America powered by United Way Worldwide.

It will be broadcast on A&E, History, Lifetime, H2, LMN, and FYI TV stations, in addition to iHeartMedia radio stations and iHeartRadio digital platforms.
