Shawn Mendes has been confirmed to perform at the People's Choice Awards next month.

The singer will take to the stage at the Los Angeles event on January 6.

Executive producer Mark Burnett commented:

"Shawn is such an incredibly talented artist and we are looking forward to having him perform at our show.

"He is a huge fan favourite and that is what our show is really all about, the fans."

Mendes is nominated for the Favourite Breakout Music Artist prize at the event.

Glee actress Jane Lynch is on hand to host the ceremony.

The US star meanwhile recently released his Camila Cabello collaboration 'I Know What You Did Last Summer'.
