Elvis Presley wanted to be produced by David Bowie

Elvis Presley wanted to work with David Bowie, it has been claimed.

The Brit passed away on January 10 aged 69 after a secret battle with cancer.

It has now been suggested that iconic star Elvis wanted Bowie to work with him as a producer in the 1970s.

Country musician Dwight Yoakam told the Orange County Register that six months before his death in 1977, Elvis called up Bowie.

He said: "I thought, 'Oh my God, it's a tragedy that he was never able to make that [album].

"I couldn't even imagine 1977 David Bowie producing Elvis. It would have been fantastic.

"It has to be one of the greatest tragedies in pop music history that it didn't happen, one of the biggest missed opportunities."
