Babymetal become highest charting Japanese band ever on UK’s Albums ChartAll-female Japanese rock trio Babymetal break Official Chart records today by becoming the highest-charting Japanese band ever in Official Albums Chart history. Babymetal score their first UK Top 40 album – with Metal Resistance (Number 15), just days after becoming the first Japanese act ever to headline Wembley Arena. A selection of other Japanese musicians who have enjoyed Albums Chart success here in the UK include Yoko Ono, who scored a Number 3 hit with John Lennon in 1984 with their Milk And Honey – A Heart Play album. Electronic producer Tomita reached Number 17 with Snowflakes Are Dancing in 1975, while Ryuichi Sakamoto, reached Number 36 with the Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence soundtrack in 1983.
