Tori Kelly on starting in music: 'Any rejection I got hit me so hard'

Songstress, writer and musician Tori Kelly has opened up about making her name and creating a strong reputation in music over the years.

She began posting YouTube videos as a teenager and they helped her to build a solid fanbase, which she is really grateful for, and confessed to the Rolling Stone that she just wanted to do everything possible to get the world to notice her:

"When you're that young, you're just going through the motions. I remember thinking I was running out of time to do stuff. Any sort of rejection that I got hit so hard. It was all meant to happen because it shaped my career and who I've become."

She also admitted that social media is great for artists as they can document their journeys in real-time, and can then go back and look at how far they've come: "Those videos I put on my Instagram are almost like a log or a diary of some sort. It is kinda cool to look back and see just how every show is so different and every crowd has grown."
