The Libertines' recent London gig raised over £1,500 for homeless charityA recent gig put on by The Libertines at north London's Boogaloo venue has raised over £1,500 for charity Shelter, which helps the homeless. The organisation shared a message of thanks both publicly and with the band, which read: “Huge thanks to The Libertines. Their secret gig at The Boogaloo last month raised a fantastic £1,680 for Shelter." Back in May, Pete Doherty talked about the band's passion for London and told Mary Anne Hobbs on BBC 6 Music that it's a city that means a lot to them: "We used to spend a lot of time walking around and climbed into Embankment gardens a lot, to the point when security... they'd turn a blind eye in the end because we'd always get into the little amphitheatre bit, the little stage, where we'd, y'know, take our guitars."
