Skepta wins Mercury Prize and reveals his plans for the prize money

Grime star Skepta won the 2016 Mercury Prize last night for his album "Konnichiwa".

Chatting to the BBC about his momentous win, he said: "I'm just so thankful. I've been trying to do this music stuff and work it out for so long."

When asked what he planned to do with his £25,000 prize money, Skepta added that he wants to use it in a way that will give back to people with similar dreams to the ones he was driven by:

"Something positive, something to help other people feel as happy and as free as me. We're doing a project right now, actually, building a studio in my old estate to help the young kids do music."
