PJ Harvey to be honoured at 2011 NME Awards

Singer-songwriter PJ Harvey will be honoured with a special prize at this year's NME Awards, the magazine has confirmed.

She will be presented with the Teenage Cancer Trust Outstanding Contribution To Music Award at the official ceremony, which will be held at London's Brixton Academy on February 23 where she will also perform live.

She spoke about her long history with the NME, and said:

"It seems like a long relationship now because it's been over 20 years,"

"But I'm really glad people are still interested in what I'm doing and are still finding it important!"

Kriss Murison, editor of the magazine, said of the musician's achievements:

"PJ Harvey is a true artist, able to challenge and entertain, provoke and thrill. Her contribution to music is unique and unrivalled and NME is proud to pay tribute to her with this special award."
