While performing in front of thousands of fans in Sydney, Australia on Friday night, pop sensation Justin Bieber came under attack by punters throwing eggs.

However, luckily for the Canadian teen, the eggs didn’t hit him and smashed harmlessly on to the stage. From footage of the concert, it appears that the eggs were thrown high into the air as they seem to drop from above, one coming within a metre of the star.

Six eggs in total were tossed, but Bieber continued the show unfazed, simply making way for a helper to clean up the mess.

Soon after the incident, social networking sites lit up with fans criticising the assailants of their beloved Bieber, with one fan warning on Twitter "Dear person who threw eggs at @justinbieber in Sydney, you now have over #9millionbeliebers after you, be afraid! We go harder than hard!"
