Devlin says he ‘can’t enjoy’ chart music

Rapper Devlin recently said in an interview that he can’t enjoy chart music and finds it “watered down”.

The 22-year-old artist from Dagenham said: "Nobody is spitting bars, it's synthesised music, club music, and [has] watered down lyrics."

"I appreciate singers like Jessie J and Adele and Ed Sheeran, but when it comes to the rap thing it's lonely out here."

He recently joined forces with Childline to give a young fan a chance to contribute a verse for one of his tracks and explained he felt happy to be involved because “it's hard when you ain't connected”.

He also revealed he has already started work on the follow-up album to his 2010 debut, ‘Bud, Sweat and Beers’.

"I'll be making sure the second album is up to scratch, across the summer," he said.
