Former Spice Girl Mel B has explained why she spent much of her third experience of childbirth in peals of laughter. 

The singer gave birth to baby daughter Madison on September 1 and soon tweeted the news to her followers, explaining that she "laughed so hard the baby popped out". 

In a new interview with Hello! magzine, Mel B revealed that the reason she found her labour hilarious rather than tortuous was because her oldest daughter, Phoenix, and her husband, Stephen Belafonte, were trying to gross each other out:

"I was laughing the whole time. They kept winding each other up and daring each other to look at the head. I was laughing so much I didn’t really push – five big chuckles and she was out. I thought Phoenix would be grossed out but she became the doctor’s little helper."
