Icy reception for Lana Del Rey's SNL performance

Lana Del Rey performed on America's iconic Saturday Night Live over the weekend (January 14), but her renditions of 'Video Games' and 'Blue Jeans' didn't impress the Twitterverse.

Actress and musician Juliette Lewis took to the social networking site following Del Rey's appearance and tweeted her opinion, which has since been deleted from her news feed:

"Wow watching this 'singer' on SNL is like watching a 12 yearold in their bedroom when they're pretending to sing and perform. #signofourtimes."

Last night, Lewis wrote about the newcomer again, but this time emphasised the respect she has for her has a "songwriter":

"I woke up singing a @LanaDelRey song! Such great haunting melodies! Regardless of my own taste LIVE she's a #FreshandYummy songwriter. Period"

Gossip blog star Perez Hilton also shared his opinion of Del Rey's performance with his Twitter followers and wrote: "Just watched SNL. Not only was @LanaDelRey vocally WAY off, but watching her utter lack of stage presence was cringe-worthy. #DontBuyTheHype."

"It wasn't just me! Seems like the OVERWHELMING consensus is that @LanaDelRey was horrible on SNL last night! #Bomb"
