Unheard Michael Jackson music 'donated to Robert Burns museum'

An unheard album of music inspired by Scottish poet Robert Burns that was co-written by Michael Jackson has been offered to a Burns museum.

Speaking to BBC Alba, David Gest - who worked on the songs with Jackson - revealed that the music was originally planned to be part of musical, but said that the project was shelved after its other participants, Gene Kelly and actor Anthony Perkins, died.

The Metro reports that Gest confirmed that the music has been offered to the Robert Burns Birthplace Museum in Ayrshire, Scotland. Speaking about the music, Gest said:

"Both being fanatics, I said to Michael, "Let's do a play on Burns' life" and he said he would help me with the music. We went to his recording studio at the family house in Encino, and we took about ten of Burns' poems and we put them to contemporary music, things like A Red Red Rose and Ae Fond Kiss and the story of Tam O'Shanter. When you listen to Thriller, you hear a little bit of Tam O'Shanter in there."
