Carly Rae Jepsen knocks Chris Brown off UK number one spot

Carly Rae Jepsen’s first UK single, ‘Call Me Maybe,’ has repeated its chart-topping success in Canada, Australia and New Zealand to become this week’s official number one.

The 2007 Canadian Idol contestant, who signed to Justin Bieber’s Schoolboy Records earlier this year, comfortably outsold Sean Paul’s ‘She Doesn’t Mind,’ which spends its third consecutive at number two, Gotye’s former number one, ‘Somebody That I Used To Know,’ and Nicki Minaj’s ‘Starships’ to take the top spot in its first week.

Last week’s chart-topper, Chris Brown’s ‘Turn Up The Music’ dropped to five, just ahead of Katy Perry’s ‘Part Of Me,' David Guetta & Sia's 'Titanium' and Flo Rida's 'Wild Ones.'

Elsewhere, there were new entries for YouTube star Alex Day’s ‘Lady Godiva,’ at No.15 and Beyonce's 'End Of Time' at No.39, a re-entry for The Script’s ‘The Man Who Can’t Be Moved’ at No.18 and new peaks for Azealia Banks' '212' at No.12 and Olly Murs’ ‘Oh My Goodness,’ at No.13.
