Azealia Banks has declared she’s no longer interested in being a rapper.

The 21-year-old New Yorker, who recently cancelled all her UK live dates due to recording commitments, posted a message on her Tumblr site revealing she now wants to be viewed as a singer rather than an MC.

She said: “I never was… and as soon as I started paying to bullshit urban media, I started getting myself in trouble. From now I'm a vocalist, and will not be associating myself with the "rap game"… or whatever the fuck that means.”

The ‘212’ star, who releases new mixtape, 'Fantasea', on July 4, also explained her decision to delete her Twitter account, adding:

"No more twitter for me… it makes me entirely too accessible. Catch me on tumblr… it'll be more interesting."
