Fans back One Direction's Zayn Malik after "pimping Islam" jibe

One Direction fans have shown their support for Zayn Malik after he was accused of "pimping Islam".

As previously reported, American blogger Debbie Schlussel criticised the singer for tweeting Islamic statements.

She said that it is "not the kind of thing you expect your kids to hear sandwiched in between cheesy, saccharin-sweet songs coming out of the mouths of over-moussed and over-gelled boy band tools."

Fans of the band took to Twitter after hearing the news, with one fan tweeting:

"We Will Support You Till We Die @ZaynMalik #TurkishDirectionersAreProudOfMuslimZayn and I will love you till the end of time."

Another fan tweeted: "We're really lucky to be Muslim @zaynmalik."
