One Direction "want to see more boy fans"

Heartthrobs One Direction have admitted that although they love their largely female fan base they would be excited to see some more male faces in the crowd.

Speaking to Tumblr's Storyboard project, member Niall Horan explained that it would be inspiring to see a more even mix of followers despite the fact that boybands tend to appeal more to young girls:

"We want to see more boy fans. As seeing them in the crowd is cool. It's ninety per cent girls, but we want to expand our fanbase. We want all people to like us."

A message posted to One Direction's official Twitter page earlier today (July 17) confirmed that the lads are no longer recording new music in Sweden: "Swedish Directioners. We can confirm that the boys are currently NOT in the studio in Sweden but are back in the UK!"

Horan also revealed via his own social networking page that he's spending this afternoon having lunch with bandmate Zayn Malik: "Me and @zaynmalik are off for fish n chips for lunch!"
