Following their extensive headlining tour of the USA, the One Direction heartthrobs have revealed the downside to spending so much time on the road.

The group recently sat down for an interview with Tumblr's Storyboard project and member Zayn Malik explained that being away from his family for long periods of time is really hard to deal with, and is definitely a drawback to fame:

"Guess the hardest part is being away from home so much and missing our friends and family. But then again I get to travel with four of my closest friends all around the world, so we keep ourselves positive."

He also admitted that growing up in the age of social media has been something that's helpful to his career as a pop star because it allows for maximum exposure and added:

"The internet helped us jump all the classic hurdles that bands had back in the day."
