X Factor USA series premiere sets social media record

The new series of X Factor USA has broken an incredible social media record following its premiere on U.S. television on Wednesday (September 12).

The show launched earlier this week and was met with fantastic reception, and attracted a massive 8.5 million viewers with the very first episode.

According to news blog Mashable, the show gathered 1.4 million comments from viewers using both Facebook and Twitter, which has set the record for the most talked about series premiere of all time.

Despite making a significant impact on social networking sites, X Factor USA lost out to rival show The Voice in terms of viewing figures as the latter drew in an audience 12.3 million.
