Paul Epworth praises Adele's Bond theme: 'It's jaw-dropping'

Producer and Adele's long-time collaborator Paul Epworth has spoken out about her recently confirmed Bond theme song, 'Skyfall'.

In a new interview with the BBC, Epworth explained that it was an honour to work on the track alongside the vocal sensation and admitted that Adele was incredible on the final recording so they can't wait to unveil it:

"I'm quite pleased. But I can't wait for people to hear the rest of it. Particularly, Adele's performance is really jaw-dropping. The initial chords happened quite quickly. We spent a few months shaping it, tweaking it."

"A song like this has to have a gravity and dynamic rather than [be] an instant pop song. Hopefully it's got lasting value."

Epworth added that it was a high-pressure project as the expectations for Bond themes is always sky-high, but he is over the moon with the finished song: "It's a total honour. Until you're asked to do it and the possibility is put in front of you, you don't realise what pressure comes with it, and the degree of pride in being asked. But then you've got to deliver."

"You’ve got to switch off from the pressure and do something that's true to the artist you're working with and to the story. The best Bond songs feel like they're part of the film – they're part of the narrative."
