Amelia Lily: 'I was over the moon to miss getting a No.1 single'

Former X Factor finalist Amelia Lily has admitted that missing out on the No.1 spot with her debut single, 'You Bring Me Joy', wasn't disappointing at all.

Speaking to BANG Showbiz, she explained that she hit the top of the charts during the midweek point and was grateful it did so well, so not reaching No.1 wasn't a big deal for her because at least she still has something huge to aim for:

"I wasn't gutted at all to miss out on a number one single, I was more over the moon to be honest. I was at midweek number one right until the day before and when I found out it was number two I was kind of grateful because I thought to myself, 'I've got somewhere to go now.' But if I had got to number one straight away then I wouldn't have anything to aim at."

Her next single, entitled 'Shut Up (And Give Me Whatever You've Got)', is due to be released early next year and she added that it's an exciting time for her as a recording artist:

"I'm really, really excited for the second single now. I'm very thankful to everyone who helped me with 'You Bring Me Joy', but I can't wait for the next single. Bring it on."
