Friendly Fires friend found dead

The body of Adam Connolly, who lived with Friendly Fires' drummer Jack Savidge, is believed to have been found on Hackney Marshes yesterday (November 17).

A police spokeperson issued the following statement: "The body of a man was found on Hackney Marshes, near to Lee Valley Ice Rink.

"Although officers await formal identification, they are satisfied that the deceased is Adam Connolly. Next of kin have been informed. A post-mortem examination will be held in due course."

"At this early stage, the death is not believed to be suspicious. Inquiries continue by Hackney officers to establish full circumstances."

Friendly Fires thanked fans on their Facebook account, saying: "The search for Adam Connolly has been called off and the news is bad. Thank you for all your help in spreading his picture and info."

Local publication The Hackney Hive spoke to a local woman, Kate Reeves, who was leaving the ice rink at the time of the tragic discovery. She said:

"We were at Lee Valley ice rink and saw search and rescue were there.

"Then as we came out, tons of police cars and ambulances turned up. It looked like a lot of his friends were there as a lot of people were crying."

Adam Connolly went missing three days ago.
