Liberty X star Michelle Heaton has had an operation to remove both her breasts.

The singer revealed earlier this year that she carries the BRCA-2 gene, which means she has an 80% risk of developing breast cancer.

She also has an increased chance of developing ovarian cancer but she decided to have a double mastectomy first to fight off her breast cancer risk.

Tweeting about her operation on Wednesday (November 21), Heaton said: "Thank u for all your lovely tweets. It went well, but I'm obviously very sore & disorientated still. I have the best doctors & husband Eva!x"

The singer had previously uploaded a photo of herself cradling her 1-year-old baby Faith, adding: "My last cuddle with #babyfaith before my op.. dont know when she will be able to cuddle upto me again.. big day 2moz X."
