Haim win BBC Sound of 2013

Haimed have topped the BBC Sound of 2013 poll.

The list, chosen by music industry tastemakers across Britain, aims to predict which emerging artists will enjoy a fruitful 2013.

Californian three-piece Haim have reigned supreme in this year's list and they took to Twitter to express their delight at the award, saying:

"Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! So excited/honoured to have won the BBC sound of 2013 poll!!! We kinda can't believe it.... xo."

BBC's Huw Stephens meanwhile praised the band's songwriting talent, proclaiming:

"Haim have an unapologetic passion for music that shines in their songs. They're brilliant musicians who have a real talent for tunes that merge their tales of growing up in the 21st Century with a classic songwriting ability."

The rest of the Sound of 2013 top five was completed by AlunaGeorge, Angel Haze, Laura Mvula and CHVRCHES.
