Bastille debut at No.1 with their album 'Bad Blood'

London quartet Bastille have shot into the UK Top 40 albums chart with their debut offering 'Bad Blood' at No.1.

The Official Charts Company reports that the band have an impressive 6,500 copy lead on this week's No.2, which is currently Stereophonics' new record 'Graffiti On The Train'. Dido's comeback offering, 'Girl Who Got Away', has entered the midweek update at No.4 and Laura Mvula's 'Sing To The Moon' has made an appearance at 6.

Olly Murs' latest album, 'Right Place Right Time' has climbed 8 positions to sit comfortably at No.11, former Westlife star Brian McFadden's new record, 'The Irish Connection', has entered at No.33, and Lana Del Rey's 'Born To Die' has shifted 1 place to No.37 after 58 weeks in the chart.

Earlier today (March 6), Emeli Sande urged her Twitter followers to purchase a copy of Bastille's album and when the band saw her supportive message, they replied to her: "@emelisande thanks so much Emeli. X"
