Almost half of Justin Bieber's Twitter followers are fake, according to research

A report has claimed that roughly 45% of Justin Bieber's Twitter followers are fake.

Research conducted by Socialbreakers suggests that the singer - who is the most followed person on Twitter - is boosted by fake fans.

Nearly half of his 37.3 million followers are reportedly fake - meaning that they have less than one follower and have never tweeted.

This means that Lady Gaga is essentially the most followed person on Twitter, if 'fake' followers are ignored.

Acts like Britney Spears and Katy Perry meanwhile are said to have more 'real' followers than fake followers.
