A song with lyrics penned by One Direction's Harry Styles has been posted online.

Songwriter Sam McCarthy and friend of the 'Kiss You' star said on his Twitter that he has worked on a new track called 'Don't Let Me Go'.

It has been reported online that the song's lyrics are dedicated to Styles' cousin, who passed away a few years ago.

Tweeting about the song's feedback, McCarthy said:

"Wow! Thanks for all the nice tweets about the song. Harry did most of the words I did the music. X."

One Direction fans meanwhile seem split over the track, with some worried that it could spark a solo career for their idol.

Others, however, reckon the track is emotional and sees Styles showcase his talents.
