Emma Bunton defends axed Spice Girls musical

Emma Bunton has praised Spice Girls themed musical Viva Forever! despite it being shelved.

The West End stage show began in London late last year but it was axed in May, with its final showing due to take place on June 29.

Speaking to The Sun, Bunton said that after some initial niggles, Viva Forever! ended up becoming a "great show".

The English singer added that crowd reaction at the shows have been very positive. She said:

"For all of us it was heartbreaking. It's a great show. Okay, at the start the cast needed to get used to it and they needed a few things changing, but now it is just brilliant. We couldn't get past people being a bit negative and that is a shame."

Bunton continued: "The Spice Girls always get a backlash, but we fight our side and actually it is good now. We just didn't have that chance [to continue]. Every night I have been, people are dancing and singing along. It is such a fun night out."
