It has been confirmed that Kris Kross rapper Chris Kelly died of a drug overdose.

As previously reported, the US star passed away on May 1 after being found at his home at Atlanta, before dying in hospital.

It has now been confirmed by toxicologists that 34-year-old Kelly died as a result of a drug overdose.

The rapper's mother previously told police that her son had been using heroin and cocaine the night before his death.

Duo Kris Kross rose to fame in the early 90s with the track 'Jump', which spent eight weeks at the top of the US charts.

His partner in the group was Chris 'Daddy Mac' Smith.
