British songstress Ellie Goulding has joked she gets "offended" when she's not named in sex symbol polls.

The 26-year-old star - who is known for her quirky style - would quite like to be recognised by men's magazine FHM.

Speaking to Capital FM she quipped: ''I've never made anything like FHM. I'm very offended by that. I've never made any of those lists. So what's up with that? I've never been thought of in that way, like a sex symbol.'

''Even if I was 100, I'd be a 100, fine, whatever. Just get me in there.''

Goulding isn't short of male admirers though, with Ed Sheeran recently revealing that the pair were dating.

After being photographed holding hands at the 2013 MTV VMAs, hitmaker Sheeran explained more about their relationship.

He said: "Normal people don't hold hands if they're just friends. It was going on. And now it's not. She's a really cool girl and she's very talented. She's had a number one single for three weeks in England now. It's all going well."
