Biffy Clyro and Calvin Harris announced for Isle of Wight Festival

Biffy Clyro have been revealed as the Isle of Wight Festival's first headliner.

The alt-rock group will top the bill on the Friday night (June 13) of the iconic shindig.

The line-up will evoke a very Scottish feel, with Calvin Harris also confirmed to play on the same day.

Rudimental, The 1975, Passenger and The Waterboys will also perform at the festival throughout the weekend.

Biffy Clyro mainman Simon Neil commented on the announcement: "We are over the moon to announce that we will headline the Main Stage of the Isle of Wight Festival next year, on Friday June 13th. To follow the likes of Jimi Hendrix, The Who, Bob Dylan and Pearl Jam is an honour. We cannot wait to get back to this iconic Festival, and this beautiful island!"

Promoter John Giddings added: "Friday night is going to kick it out of the park with Biffy & Calvin and special guests Rudimental - I can't wait...having Passenger and The 1975 already on board we're set for one of our most contemporary years - with the class of The Waterboys complementing the young guns nicely..."

Early bird tickets for the festival will go on sale from Thursday (December 12).
