Miley Cyrus' "terrible" critics slammed

Rapper Angel Haze has jumped to the defence of Miley Cyrus, claiming the star's critics are guilty of "s**t-shaming".

Cyrus faced a barrage of criticism after her risqué performance at the recent MTV Video Music Awards.

The international singer performed hit song 'We Can't Stop' before suggestively dancing alongside Robin Thicke on the star's storming 'Blurred Lines'.

Rapper Angel took to Twitter to condemn a piece in the Washington Post in which a journalist suggested Cyrus' performance fuels a dangerous culture that he blames for the Steubenville rape case.

Outraged, Angel wrote: "Recently been asked about @MileyCyrus way too much. Was particularly perturbed by the whole washington post thing. Let me just vocalize how utterly f**king stupid I think it is for a national news publication to post that her dancing is why things like Steubenville happen.

She added: "That is terrible journalism. S**t shaming, and complete and total idiocy all at once. If @MileyCyrus wants to dance, let her. A female dancing doesn't mean she's 'asking to be raped.' Quite frankly, if she is not doing it on you, it is not for you... Women are allowed to not feel enslaved by any opinion that suggests that the display of any sort of sexuality is wrong.

She concluded: "You should know by now that the word 'no' does not have various meanings and is not to be taken as anything but no. I just don't get it."

Cyrus recently defended her show, claiming:  "I don't pay attention to the negative because I've seen this play out, how many times have we seen this play out in pop music? Madonna's done it. Britney's done it. VMA performance, anyone that performs. That's what you're looking for. You're wanting to make history."
