Ne-Yo has revealed how he embarrassed One Direction after becoming a little too over-excited about meeting them.

The R&B star, who performed his recent number one single on The X-Factor last night, told Radio 1’s Breakfast Show that he might have got a bit carried away after noticing the boyband was in the same room as him:

"I embarrassed One Direction. We were being interviewed in the same room and I shouted out, 'Oh my god there's One Direction.

“It was a cricket moment. Everyone went quiet. I don't think they found it funny. They weren't smiling. I think they found it a little weird. They were like, 'Oh man, even Ne-Yo is a fan.”

The 29-year-old, who releases new album, 'R.E.D.,' next month, went on to admit that he was never exactly cool as a youngster either:

"I was a weird kid. I was well behaved. If you ever saw Fame the movie, then I was a lot like that. Although I didn't go for music or dance I went for art and painting."
