Nicole Scherzinger relates to Cats character: 'I know what it feels like to be broken'

Nicole Scherzinger says she has lot of empathy for her Cats character.

The singer is playing the role of Grizabella the Glamour Cat in the iconic West End music from December to February.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, the US star said that she relates to the character because they have both experienced tough lives.

Scherzinger said: "There are so many layers to her...no wonder [TS] Eliot warned it was too sad for children. Grizabella is broken and I know what that feels like, to be broken not only on the inside from personal relationships but in many ways.

"She's been shunned and mistreated by society and her people. I understand feeling like an outcast, feeling like an outsider, feeling like I don't fit in and wanting to be accepted."

The Andrew Lloyd Webber musical meanwhile will take place at the London Palladium.
