Mayze will be dropping a single every Thursday on Apple Music, Spotify & Soundcloud until the end of the 2018 with the hopes of a TBA project in 2019. Check out his interview below!

Tell us about yourself and your music?

My name is Mayze & I'm an artist from Toronto Ontario. My music mainly focuses on the youth and the young people my age struggling to do something bigger than what's expected of them. I try to make my songs for the vibe that you feel at night time driving around downtown Toronto. If you're someone that's not from my city, my music kind of pulls you into our scene.

How would you describe your sound?

The trap music from Atlanta meeting the R&B sound of Toronto.

Talk about the experience making your single?

It's always a great experience making a song, it's even better when it feels effortless. My best songs are the ones I create the fastest. It comes from a genuine place of inspiration.

What are you currently working on? Any new projects? Shows?

I'm currently working on the next 4 singles, which I am planning to release by ending of September or the top of October. We'll just have to see what happens. There is going to be some collaborations for the next few songs, so I'm being patient and waiting on their parts. I do have a project I'm working on, which is conceptual and different from all the singles. It's about 20% done. I want it to be perfect.

What has been your biggest highlight in your music career this far?

10,000 monthly listeners on Spotify in August.

Name your ideal collaboration: mainstream or independent artist(s)?

Right now it would be Tory Lanez or Russ. Their work ethic inspires me.

Name something random that people do not know about you?

I went to a catholic school in grade 9. Just for 1 year, it's super random because I'm not catholic at all.

What’s one thing you have learned or discovered while being in the indie music scene/industry?

I learned the parallels between someone being self employed & someone who is making music. You need to invest a lot of money & go through a lot of losses in order to finally see a return.

What can we expect from you in the future?

More collaborations & different sounds.
