Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder donates $10k to family struggling at Christmas

Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder has donated $10,000 (£8,150) to a family whose plight this Christmas was revealed in a desperate Craigslist advert.

Thirty five year old Tyshika Britten from Maryland, who has a family of six, took to the website looking for donations because she was about to be evicted and had no money for Christmas presents or a tree.

Speaking to the Post on Sunday, Vedder said he donated cash to Britten, adding: "I was just so moved by the story and what this mother did for her children. I thought those kids must be so proud of their mother for reaching out. That takes a lot of courage."

He said her plight resonated with his own experience. Vedder continued: "There were years there were toys from Santa, but they were used and they came from garage sales and they didn’t always work."
