Robbie Williams yesterday revealed how a trip to Mexico with the UNICEF charity made him aware of how dangerous the world can be for children.  

The 38-year-old, who travelled to the poorest parts of Mexico City with best friend Jonathan Wilkes to make a film about the plight of the city’s most vulnerable children for ITV’s Soccer Aid, told the Daily Mail that the experience helped to open his eyes about the issue. 

“Meeting children in Mexico City really showed me how dangerous the world can be for a child and how hard it can be for them to even survive. Right now, children are suffering and it shouldn’t be like this.”

The former Take That star, who is expecting his first child with wife Ayda in September, went onto discuss how proud he is to be involved with the Soccer Aid project, which takes place at Old Trafford on May 27.  

"Soccer Aid is so great because it helps children just like this, living unbelievably tough lives all around the world, to have a better future.  It’s also a brilliant football match, and I can tell you it’s going to be bigger and better than ever this year."
