Robbie Williams has admitted that he had to cut his child's umbilical cord during its birth after it got wrapped around its neck.

The singer became a father for the first time in September after his wife Ayda Field gave birth to daughter Theodora Rose.

Speaking to The Sun, however, the 'Candy' singer revealed that the baby started to go "blue" after getting into problems with its umbilical cord.

Quick thinking from Williams with a pair of scissors managed to free the baby. He said:

"I cut the cord but, bless her, I cut it while she was still inside Ayda. Teddy was going blue because the umbilical cord was caught around her neck."

He continued: "I had to be quick with the scissors. It was like the first 30 minutes of Saving Private Ryan down there. It was like Ayda vs Predator. She'd say the same thing. It's an image that won't go away."
