Taylor Swift says Selena Gomez is "like [her] sister".

The popular pop singers are firm friends and recently met up in Los Angeles for a catch-up in between their busy schedules.

Despite their work taking them all over the world, Swift says the two always manage to find time for each other.

She gushed to Extra: "We had a lot to talk about. It’s amazing. She’s like my sister. We’ve been in each other’s lives for so much and for so long that it’s amazing when we’re both in the same place to get to catch up.”

Swift is enjoying success with her fourth studio album 'Red' and picked up Favourite Country Female Artist at last night's American Music Awards (AMAs) in Los Angeles.

During her acceptance speech the star gushed: “I want to thank the fans. You guys are the ones who voted on this. You have made this such an amazing couple of weeks for me with Red coming out. We just put some of the dates on sale for the tour and you guys sold them out in minutes and I’m so stoked. I guess what I’m trying to say is I’m really really happy right now and that’s all because of you.”
