Taylor Swift: ''I Knew You Were Trouble' is based on a real experience I had'

Country-pop songstress Taylor Swift has confessed that her new single was written about a relationship she had in the past and how it influenced her.

She recently unveiled the music video for her dubstep-tinged track 'I Knew You Were Trouble' and explained to MTV News that a destructive and confusing romance inspired her to put it into words and make a song about the issues that love creates:

"I had just gone through an experience that made me write this song about like knowing the second you see someone, 'Oh this is going to be interesting. It's going to be dangerous, but look at me going in there anyway."

While Swift didn't reveal the name of the man that led her to pen the single, she added that it was important for her to express how he caused her to lose herself:

"My favourite thing [about the video] is that this girl not only gets sucked into this relationship with him but she loses who she was before and that's the saddest part of losing him, is that she can't remember who she was before she met him."
