Taylor Swift: "You shouldn't be ashamed to like pop music"

Taylor Swift has criticised people who ditch pop music in favour of indie songs to make them "seem cool".

The country-pop star is no stranger to emphatic melody and it seems that is instilled in her listening habits too.

Speaking to The Sun, Swift said that she has grown to love catchy pop music that might not come across as being too hip. She said:

"I love a really great pop melody that will get stuck in your head. I've come to appreciate hookyness as a specific art form."

The singer continued: "I don't think that just because a song is a huge hit on the radio that you shouldn't download it and share it on a playlist with your friends. You shouldn't just have to have some indie song that makes you seem cool for having it on your playlist.
