The xx’s second album, ‘Coexist,’ enters at the UK No.1 spot

The xx have today scored their first number one album with their second studio effort, ‘Coexist.’

The follow-up to their Mercury Music Prize winning debut 'xx' took pole position in a big week for new entries, with The Script’s ‘#3’ debuting at No.2 and Bob Dylan’s ‘Tempest’ entering at No.3.

Coldplay’s ‘Mylo Xyloto’ climbed to No.4 following their performance at the Paralympics’ Closing Ceremony, Emeli Sande's 'Our Version Of Events' fell to No.5, whilst there were new entries inside the Top 10 for Joe McElderry’s ‘Here’s What I Believe' (No.8) and Pet Shop Boys' 'Elysium' (No.9). 

Elsewhere, there were debuts for David Guetta’s ‘Nothing But The Beat 2.0' (No.13), Billy Talent’s ‘Dead Silence’ (No.23), ZZ Top’s ‘La Futura’ (No.29) and David Byrne & St Vincent's 'Love This Giant' (No.40).
