Westlife star fails to take Ireland through to Eurovision finalWestlife's Nicky Byrne has failed to make it through to the final of the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest. The singer represented Ireland in this year's competition, but his tune 'Sunlight' dropped out of the contest at Thursday's (May 12) semi-final. The ten countries that did qualify from the semi were Latvia, Georgia, Bulgaria, Australia, Ukraine, Serbia, Poland, Israel, Lithuania and Belgium. Ireland is the most successful country in the history of Eurovision, having won it seven times. Speaking on Twitter after the show, Byrne said: "Amazing time, amazing support. "I gave it my all, I'm sorry I didn't get us there. I pass on the torch to someone else now next year." This year's Eurovision final will take place on Saturday (May 14) at Stockholm's Globe Arena. UK entry Joe and Jake automatically qualified alongside France, Germany, Italy, Spain and hosts Sweden. Follow us: @Pressparty on Twitter / Pressparty on Facebook.
