Little Mix on responsibility: 'We didn't ask to be role models'

UK based girl group Little Mix have spoken out about the assumed responsibility that comes with being in the public eye and revealed that it's not really fair to be looked at as role models as there's so much pressure that comes along with that title.

During an interview with EntertainmentWise, the beauties explained that it's flattering when fans admit they look up to them, but they are just themselves and hope that's enough. Perrie Edwards said:

"We didn't ask to be role models - it just happened, which is the biggest compliment ever and if people want to look up to us and do whatever we're doing and be like us just by being ourselves then that's amazing."

Singer Jade Thirlwall added that they didn't become a pop group to step into the role of ambassadors or aspirational figures, but it seems to be just part of the job: "With our first album we did have a responsibility to do that because we gained the younger fan base but as we're maturing, our fans mature with us and we are just four normal girls and we're not perfect."

"Like Rihanna, she didn't set out to have that name for herself, so I think we're a bit different, aren't we? In that when we write songs - it's for our fans and it's to inspire them and help them out. Different artists are different. We love Miley Cyrus and Lady Gaga and Rihanna."
