Nathan Sykes: 'It's tricky not giving away who the songs are about'

Nathan Sykes has opened up about the lyrics on his new album.

He explains to Fuse TV that he has been really open about his past relationships on this new album but is worried it will be easy to guess who his songs are about.

The British singer revealed: "There's a lot of personal stories in there that I never thought I'd tell people. I never thought I'd be able to pour my heart out so much.

"Then day after day I was surprising myself. It's been a lot of fun. I'll tell you what the tricky bit is: trying not to make it too obvious who the songs are about."

On the album's style, he added: "It's pop music, it's got a bit of soulful touch to it. There's like elements of R&B and Jazz in there as well. I think just because those are things I listened to whilst i was growing up. But I think, all in all, it's definitely a pop album."

Although he has decided on a name for the album, he won't reveal it just yet but reveals the album is now finished.

Sykes revealed last month that the album was finished twice by his label as he still needed to add more songs to it.

He said: "The album's been finished twice, and then unfinished. The first time I finished, it was the label really thinking it was finished, and I was like, 'No, not yet. I need to go back to L.A. to write a couple of songs'."

"Then I decided (at the) top of the year that I wanted to write a couple more songs, because I've grown up a lot since I started writing the album."
